Click here to read an article by Michael Shermer about Kevin Trudeau's criminal past and his scam "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" which just directs the reader to Trudeau's Web page to find the "cures". "Some are not cures at all but just obvious healthy lifestyle suggestions: eat less, exercise more, reduce stress. Some of the natural cures are flat-out wrong, such as oral chelation for heart disease, whereas others are laughably ludicrous, such as a magnetic mattress pad and crocodile protein peptide for fibromyalgia. When you go there, however, and click on a disease to get the cure, you first have to become a Web site member at $499 lifetime or $9.95 a month." http://luem42.com/scam.html
Click here to read an article called "The Self-Help and Actualization Movement has become an $8.5-billion-a-year business. Does it work?" by Michael Shermer http://luem42.com/sham.html
Oprah Winfrey has recently endorsed a book titled "The Secret" which is nothing more than a scam filled with hogwash such as "The only reason any person does not have enough money is because they are blocking money from coming to them with their thoughts," The book is also filled with money mantras such as "Everything I touch turns to gold," "I am a money magnet," and "There is more money being printed for me right now.".
There is other bullcrap such as "It has been proven scientifically that a positive thought is hundreds of times more powerful than a negative thought." What! I have been following science all my life and have never heard of any scientific study proving this. And how about this one "Our physiology creates disease to give us feedback, to let us know we have an imbalanced perspective, and we're not loving and we're not grateful." So everyone who gets sick is a bad person? And here's one that is true "You've got enough power in your body to illuminate a whole city for nearly a week.". Of course that is a gross underestimation because E=MC2 says there is more than enough energy to blow up the Earth if we knew of a way to convert your mass into energy.
Michael Shermer has written an article about this that is in the June 2007 issue of Scientific American that I have reprinted it, and the above articles, as a public service here: http://luem42.com/shame.html
I harvest, what I think are, the best links from all of the great newsletters I receive and pass them on here in my newsletter. Sometimes I learn of a link first, print it here, then see it in other newsletters. As long as these good links get out there and help people I don't care where I get them. I generate less than 5% of these links from my own web surfing so 95% are harvested from other newsletters which means you would be seeing a lot less links if I published only my links.
Even though I have religious and political opinions you won't find them here. I don't care what your politics, religion or your affiliations are. If you are a public figure and you are a hypocrite, stupid or have committed a crime I will "out you" here. I especially like to out the hypocrites because I think they have the potential to do the most harm to society. So don't blame me if you don't like your (insert affiliation here) showing up here. I'm an equal opportunity "outer". Plus it's fun for me. As for content, if I wouldn't tell all my family and friends about them, I wouldn't put them here. I assume no responsibility for the websites and software linked to on my webpages. I try my best to make sure the sites and software I list are safe and free but I'm only human.
You have my permission to save my webpages and newsletters to your computer for offline research
Use of my webpages or newsletters on other websites is forbidden
I list email addresses that tried to scam me with 419, Nigerian, lottery and other scams here: http://luem42.com/email.html and http://luem42.googlepages.com/email.html. I print them here so that spambots will find and harvest them and fill up their inboxes
